Abstract. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the decibel measurement unit, examining its historical emergence, philosophical considerations of sound in Ancient China, and its application in contemporary scientific contexts. As science and technology evolved, scientists encountered the need for a unit to determine the power ratio, leading to the creation of decibels. In Ancient China, poets used sophisticated poetry to convey their thoughts on sound. Decibels have found their primary application in acoustics, but their use is not limited to describing sound intensity. Decibels are also actively utilized in the realms of automatic control, signal analysis, and communication. Overall, decibels have played a crucial role in advancing the development and progress of science.
